Visited my late mother's gravesite in Humboldt, Iowa on a warm but slightly overcast Sunday, June 14. It was quite a surprise as I was tending to her gravesite and I noticed hundreds of little green shamrocks adorning her and other gravesites. Only appropriate since we're of Irish descent. Rest in peace Mom!

Where do the month's go. Tomorrow will be June 1st! Will visit my mother's gravesite in Humboldt on Sunday, June 14. It's an annual visit that I promised her prior her death in 2007.

I thank God each day that I have a job. Feel sad for those who are losing their jobs. I look forward each day that I am gainfully employed!

Celtic Woman

Back in February, I attended the Celtic Woman concert. If you haven't seen this ensemble from Ireland you should. Like Andre Rieu they were discovered in this country on a PBS special. They have angelic voices, and are releasing a new single in iTunes on June 23 called O' America. Very moving song,

Andre Rieu @ Target Center

Had the good fortune to take in a two hour concert by Andre Rieu & His Johann Straus Orchestra & Choir on Saturday, May 23. It was a splendid concert with classical and show tunes performed so eloquently by his orchestra and choir. This was my first visit to one of his concerts.

He kept referring to Minneapolis as Minapplis until the crowd shouted the correct pronunciation. At which point he exclaimed "I've been coming here for 10 years, and just found out how to say it!" It should be noted that Andre hails from Maastricht in The Netherlands, so he's been stating it with a Dutch accent!

If you ever get a chance to take in one of his concerts, don't miss it. You can see him on PBS all the time. The only thing I have in common with him is that I am four months older!
